Greatness Re-Engineered : Epson continues to innovate in support of business profitability

Attention to detail and functional design at the heart of Epson printers and projectors

Epson demonstrates projector capabilities at the launch

Epson Philippines unveiled the company’s latest printer innovations during the “Greatness Re-Engineered” launch to trade partners and the media at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at the Fort in BGC, Taguig City.

The New Epson Compact Integrated Ink Tank Printer Series offers more cost savings for corporations, SME’s and home offices and schools. The launch event was hosted by DJ Justin Quirino.

Aside from the new compact integrated ink tank printers, the event also showcased key milestones in Epson’s visual imaging development and multi-sectoral usage of Epson’s projector products. The development path of Epson projectors follows a similar thread of innovating for the future, with key considerations of improving projector performance and customizing visual technologies for various industry needs.

Performances during the launch, including the Hologram Projection production number also showcased the development of Epson’s visual imaging technologies. Guests were able to engage with Epson innovations with a Projection Photo Booth and a Dynamic Wall.

The introduction of the company’s newest ink-tank system printers and showcase of visual imaging products is another step forward in the company’s commitment to drive productivity and value for business customers. The company’s conscientious attention to detail in developing functional design has been a key factor in Epson’s success and thriving leadership in the Philippines and in the global market.
“As a technology company, Epson takes great pride in our attention to details and innovation. We aspire to be a company that takes care of every detail using the most innovative technology in the world to meet the demands of the market. And it is our focus on details that has led to our success today,” explains Toshimitsu Tanaka, Managing Director and President, Epson Philippines and Country Manager, Epson Singapore Pte. Ltd.
“Epson has a vertically integrated model driven by our core technologies that sees us creating products from the ground up – handling every aspect of our product development, manufacture, sale, right down to service and support. And it is this edge that differentiates us from our competitors,” adds Tanaka san.
Mr. Toshimitsu Tanaka also announced that all the products launched during the event were manufactured locally in Epson Precision (Philippines) Inc. or EPPI, Epson’s manufacturing facility in the Philippines.

Printing Fast Forward

The Epson brand is the pioneer in ink tank printers, and continues to lead the ink tank segment with the largest market share of ink tank printers, at 70% in SE Asia. Currently there are over 20 million Epson ink tank printers sold worldwide since its launch in 2010.

In the Philippines, Epson also holds a dominant 55% market share and continues to grow exponentially as the company, which already has the largest range of ink tank printers, continues to expands and customize for every market need.

“Since IDC started tracking the market in 1996, no vendor in the long history of this highly competitive industry was able to command a market share more than 50%.Despite other brands’ entry into the ink tank space last 2014 and 2015, Epson’s domination of this segment is apparent. IDC showed that in the 1st half of 2017, Epson sold more than 3 times the quantity other brands have sold, combined. At 77% market share in the ink tank space, it has become very obvious, ink tank is Epson, and Epson is ink tank,” elaborates Jester Cruz, Department Head for Product Management Division, Epson Philippines.

“We are witnessing a very clear shift in the printing market. While the ink tank segment grows, with everyone jumping on the bandwagon, the laser market segment has been declining. Epson is committed to the business printing segment by constantly developing and introducing a wide range of products suited to each business category,” divulges Eduardo Bonoan, General Manager and Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines.

Epson plans to disrupt the laser markets with different inkjet products to allow the print technology shift from lasers to Inkjets, with Epson strengthening its Ink Tank & Business Inkjet line-up in the small to medium business segment; and high-speed Inkjet MFPs to target the large to enterprise segment, competing mainly with the A3 laser copiers, which are predominant in this segment.

The latest findings from Futuresource indicate that Epson has the largest market share for 500-lumen and above, for projectors worldwide, at 32.1% for 2015, an increase from 29.4% in 2014. For the home projectors segment, Epson has also achieved largest market share for 500-lumen and above, for home projectors worldwide for 2015, which stands at 35.1% for 2015.

Epson’s worldwide market share for projectors have increased steadily over the last 15 years, to maintain its market leadership over the years. Within Southeast Asia, Epson continues to maintain market leadership, with market share increasing to 28% in 2015, up from 24% in 2014.

Epson has a broad range of projectors that caters to different sectors, from enterprise projectors for classroom and small and medium meeting rooms, to interactive projectors for education and enterprise sectors, as well as high brightness projectors for large venue installations, rentals and staging venues.

We are proud to achieve this position, and as a company, will continue to drive innovations to create new visual experiences for our customers,” said Eduardo Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines.

BRING PRESENTATIONS TO LIFE: Epson offers the right tools for better engagement and focus

Over the decades, Epson has introduced numerous products that have filled the technology vacuum, from the world’s first quartz watch, to revolutionary printers, to the first commercialized liquid crystal color television. In its drive to deliver outstanding visual experience for consumers, Epson also pioneered 3LCD technology, the mainstay of most modern projectors.

Never a company to rest on its laurels, Epson’s culture of innovation and technology development led the company to realize that while projected presentations using PowerPoint and other software play a huge role in everyday business life, there are more innovative ways to provide information, stimulate discussion and inspire action.

A key to Epson’s success lies in analyzing how the company’s products can improve to meet the needs of customers.

Epson, a global technology leader dedicated to driving innovations and exceeding customer expectations in printing, visual communications, quality of life and manufacturing. Epson’s lineup ranges from inkjet printers, printing systems and 3LCD projectors to industrial robots, smart glasses and sensing systems and is based on original compact, energy-saving, and high-precision technologies.

Tools for a better presentation

Managing the content of a presentation, using the software’s toolbox appropriately and developing effective presentation skills are clearly the responsibility of the individual presenter. But a common challenge is the use of traditional equipment and methods. An example of the traditional method is the “teacher-student, classroom-type approach”, which can be less conducive in achieving the action outcomes demanded by fast-paced organizations and businesses.

In today’s ideas-based economy, successful enterprises are those that operate with a collaborative, team-based organizational structure. In order to facilitate the innovative problem-solving and bold decision-making that keep such companies ahead of the pack, a new business presentation model is essential. Epson realized that the solution lies in using advanced projector technology to unleash the combined capabilities of the presenter and his/her audience, and transform the whole concept of business presentations. This solution is the interactive projector.

Simply put, interactive projectors create a participatory environment in which everyone is involved, making presentations more engaging and productive, and optimizing the value of the business outcome. The key feature is that the screen becomes a huge drawing board, letting participants use the Interactive Pen to freely handwrite comments and emphasize points directly onto the projection – which can be emailed or printed for instant dissemination or saved for editing. The higher pen accuracy and response speed make drawing as instant as writing with a normal marker pen.

Epson is the world’s top projector maker for 15 years in a row and the leader in interactive projectors. Their latest model even features finger-touch capabilities. In addition to using conventional interactive pens, the projector can be operated simply by touching the screen with a fingertip - including opening and closing files, scrolling through pages, moving and expanding objects and adding notes, with both hands and multiple interactive pens at the same time.

The benefit of this revolutionary approach is that it helps to break down the wall between presenter and audience. When multiple participants are given free rein to write simultaneously, the presentation comes back to life - a stimulating, collaborative and productive experience, increasing engagement and delivering improved business outcomes.

And as a further nod to the value of group collaboration, Epson’s latest interactive projector can wirelessly connect up to 50 devices like laptops, smartphones and tablets over a network, with a terminal serving as a moderator host PC. The group moderator can display content from up to four devices simultaneously onto the big screen to link participants together for side by side evaluation of presentations, making group discussions even more broad-based and insightful.

User friendly technology enhances the viewing experience

Epson’s interactive projectors have a host of advanced features that work behind the scenes to breathe color and life into every presentation, and make the viewing experience conducive and comfortable for everyone in the room.

Projector set-up is simply plug-and-play, with a one-time Auto Calibration* and Auto Resolution adjustment. An ultra-short throw ratio reduces glare on the presenter as well as shadow interference on the screen, and the projected screen size can be adjusted up to a 100-inch maximum to fit any meeting room size enabling you to easily share information on a big screen wherever you are. You can even project smartphone content wirelessly, from both iOS and Android devices.

Epson is well-known for its commitment to sustainability, and eco-friendly features are built in to their interactive projector range. The choice of materials – lead-free lenses, unpainted plastic housings, and chlorine/bromine free flame retardants – is designed to minimize environmental impact.

The projectors use just up to 0.44W of power in standby mode, and energy consumption is reduced, too, with the eco-friendly auto-brightness adjustment. The luminance sensor detects the brightness level of the environment and adjusts the projector’s brightness automatically, giving you power and cost savings. Frequent and costly lamp replacements are a thing of the past, also, with a long lamp life of 10,000 hours in eco-mode.

Whether the presentation is an internal report, a sales pitch or an industry conference keynote, participants invest valuable time in attending, and expectations of value are rightly high. Every presentation should be a key touchpoint, helping to move agendas, achieve sales or build partnerships.

Epson’s range of interactive projectors does more than merely advance the evolution of the humble office projector – they permit a revolutionary re-imagining of the traditional corporate presentation, increasing productivity, saving time and unleashing the participants’ creativity to solve problems and even formulate fresh directions for their business.

Epson's Projector Market Share Grows by 6 points to Capture Market Leadership

Epson Maintains Global Leadership for 14 Years

FutureSource Consulting, the leading research and forecasting company in consumer electronics, entertainment, and education markets, recently confirmed Epson's 14th consecutive year of global leadership in the projector category.

In an independent 3rd party study in the US made by
Radius Global Market Research of nearly 900 participants,
9 out of 10 people prefer images from Epson projectors
compared to other brands.

Here in the Philippines, a growth spurt of 6 percentage points enabled the Epson brand to capture market leadership in the country, leading the industry with a commanding 31 % Market Share.
Lyn Lizarondo, EPC Product Manager for Projectors

Lyn Lizarondo, Epson Philippines Corporation's (EPC) Product Manager for Projectors, explained :

"As the World's No.1 brand in projectors, Epson pioneered a campaign to inform customers about Color Brightness -  an important measurement of red, green and blue light projection measured in lumens. Prior to this, lumens only referred to white brightness. Because of our very own 3LCD technology, Epson delivers the same high level of Color Brightness and White Brightness to deliver vivid and realistic colors .. unlike 1·chip projectors that deliver a color brightness of only 1/3 of their white lumens.

For example 1· chip projectors with 2100 lumens usually only produce 700 lumens of color; Epson's 3LCD projectors, on the other hand, produce 2100 white and 2100 color lumens equally."

Epson Launches FREE Cloudphone Projector Promo

Epson, the undisputed global leader in projectors for the past 13 consecutive years, is offering a free Cloudphone ICE 402E for every purchase of an Epson EB-X03 projector.

Epson customers who will buy an Epson EB-X03 from February 8 to March 9 will receive a free Android Kitkat Cloudphone ICE 402E. The Cloudphone ICE has a 4-inch WVGA IPS LCD display, and a dual sim/dual standby capability.

Epson launched the EB-X03 for customers who are looking for an entry-level projector but unwilling to compromise on performance. Priced at par with competitor models but featuring a high 1024x768 XGA resolution and 3x brighter colors compared to 1-chip projectors, the EB-X03 is designed to give better value to customers.

“The ‘FREE CLOUDPHONE’ promo is for customers who insist on high standards and low costs,” said Lyn Lizarondo, Epson Philippines Product Manager for Visual Instruments. We are even adding a free phone as a bonus,” she added.

With Epson’s proprietary 3LCD technology that provides high color brightness, the Epson EB-X03 business projector combines dynamic image quality with exceptional versatility to deliver stunning and vivid presentations.

Epson’s projectors also boast of eco-features. The EB-X03 only uses 0.28W of power in standby mode, its optics employ lead-free lenses, utilizes unpainted plastic housing to reduce environmental impact, and the flame retardants used in the product do not contain chlorine or bromine.

Furthermore, an independent test of about 800 projectors by projector review media ProjectorCentral.com in 2009 found that on average, 3LCD projectors use 25% less power than single-chip projectors. 3LCD projectors also offer greater detail, smoother gradations, no “color breakup” effect, and are easier on viewers’ eyes compared to a single-chip projector using a lamp of the same wattage.

The promo is valid in participating IT stores nationwide. For more information about Epson projectors, please visit epson.com.ph/projectors.

Epson encourages projector customers to give feedback, share your thoughts and win

For over two decades, Epson has maintained its position as the world's No. 1 supplier of HTPS panels, the core devices at the heart of 3LCD projectors. It has led the industry by developing and providing technologies that boost power and performance.

Epson now encourages projector customers to give feedback. Owners of Epson’s 3LCD projectors have a chance to win an Epson LW-900 label printer just by giving feedback to the digital imaging leader.

Donna V. Ferro, Head of Marcom & PR of Epson Philippines explained that “for 13 consecutive years, Epson has been the No.1 projector brand in the whole world. This remarkable achievement was made possible because we listen to our customers, understand their requirements, and then create a product that exceeds their expectations.”

“It is a source of great pride for us that even here in the Philippines, Epson is now the No.1 projector brand. As a technology company that believes in continuous improvement and innovation, we are taking this opportunity to invite all Epson projector owners to give us their feedback. All our customers need to do is go to our website (www.epson.com.ph/reviewprojector), tell us what they think about their Epson projector, and provide their details for a chance to win an Epson label printer,” added Ferro.

Users of Epson projectors can go to the company’s website, give a rating for the projector they use, and share their experience with the product. Five participants will be chosen at random (“Sweepstakes”) as winners, and each winner will receive an Epson LW-900 Labelworks printer.

The Sweepstakes is open to any person who owns or uses an Epson 3LCD projector, whether at home or at work, within the Philippines. Ownership and usage of the projector shall be verified via the participant’s submission of the product serial number. Each product serial number can only be submitted once.

Epson’s 3LCD projectors boast of superior color brightness over 1-chip DLP projectors of similar range. A projector’s color brightness is usually measured in ‘lumens’. Color Light Output (or color brightness) is the measurement for Color Brightness while White Light Output is for White Brightness. Many projector manufacturers provide only one brightness number -- the white brightness measurement.

“Customers should note that a projector that has high white brightness may have low color brightness. In some cases, the color brightness of that projector could be only 1/3 of the rated specification (lumens) provided. When Color Brightness is low, colors can look dull and dark, skin tones can be reproduced poorly, and important details can be lost,” clarified Ferro.

As color is a critical component every time a projector is used – for presentations, watching movies, and gaming – it is important for customers to ask for the color light output or color lumens of the projector that they are eyeing before making the purchase.

“Epson projectors provide equal color light output and white light output. This is one of the reasons why Epson has been the projector of choice all over the world for 13 straight years,” added Ferro.
