Epson Unveils Affordable Feature-Packed High-Brightness Projectors for Offices and Classrooms

Celebrates number one Global Leadership for 16 years

As the leading digital imaging company celebrates another milestone with the achievement of world number one in projectors for 16 consecutive years, Epson unveiled a series of feature-packed projectors for businesses and schools at affordable price points.

Ms. Lyn Lizarondo, Product Manager for Visual Instruments, Epson Philippines, is joined by Mr. Daniel Poh, Asia Sales Director, Extron Electronics Asia Pte Ltd., Mr. Joseph Mak, Sales Manager, Asia Pacific, Milestone AV Technologies Ltd. and Mr. Adrian Tan, Technical Sales Account Manager – ASEAN countries, SOTI Inc. during the tête-à-tête session

At the Projection Conference & Showcase, “Together, We Bring Imagination to Life”, held at the Shangri-La at the Fort, Epson Philippines Visual Imaging Product Manager Lyn Lizarondo pointed out how projector usage has expanded over the years, with Epson delivering innovations adapted to the fast-changing needs of multiple segments.

“This showcase highlights how Epson led innovations in visual imaging technologies even beyond the boardroom. In the past few years, we have seen how projectors have become indispensable in the home, schools, and even in big venues and the outdoors. Even as Epson took big steps in various sectors, we have continued to improve on the usage of projectors for businesses and in classrooms, by adding on features that are not available in the market at these price points.”

The new Epson projectors are equipped with an impressive 3,3000to 3,600 lumens, delivering both white and colour brightness in the same high levels. This feature is important to ensure better visibility even in bright environment, like in offices or in classrooms.

Resolutions range from SVGA, XGA, WXGA, WUXGA and wide ranging connectivity- HDMI/VGA/LAN that provides convenient and hassle-free projections. EB-U42 even comes additional with 2 HDMI ports, with one of it MHL-enabled – ideal for greater digital compatibility.

Wireless transmission enables the users to enjoy enhanced connectivity and flexibility with either EB-U42’s built-in wireless module or Epson’s ELPAP10 wireless LAN adaptor. This enables end-users to easily share and transmit images, texts and files from smart devices like mobile phones, tablets and laptops.

Split screen features allow two separate image sources to be projected on a single screen, eliminating the need for a second projector. This is useful during video conferences allowing presentation images and remote participants to be shown together simultaneously.

Multi-PC projection moderator function allows connecting to up to 50 devices- PC, smartphones or others--- and simultaneously project onto the screen up to four (4) images. This is a significant advantage to help make meetings or classroom presentations easy and efficient.

Screen mirroring allows users to wirelessly mirror their android smart devices to the projector without the need of cables or installing any application.

Auto Power On- projection starts automatically when a signal is received from a computer or smart device even if the projector is on standby. It saves the need to turn on the power button or use the remote control.

Epson has pioneered in raising awareness on Color Brightness (Color Light Output) as an important requirement for life-like colors. Utilizing its own proprietary 3LCD technology, all Epson projectors deliver equal levels of White Light Output and Color Light Output—an important detail that significantly raises the quality of projected images.

Since 2015, Epson’s visual imaging development has remained focused on multi-sectoral usage and innovating in anticipation of evolving functions of projectors as an ubiquitous digital imaging device for business, education or lifestyle requirements.

““Epson’s R&D on its products and supporting services are made even better by constantly enhancing every detail to come up with this level of performance and reliability. Being number one globally for 16 years, and in the Philippines for the past few years has inspired the company to further harness its own technologies into expanding to more possibilities for visual imaging products, ” explains Eduardo Bonoan, General Manager and Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines.

“The R&D for all Epson products are aligned with the Epson 25 Vision of “creating a new connected age of people, things and information with efficient, compact and precision technologies’, and with the enhancement of every detail, we are surely coming closer and closer to making it happen for our customers,” concludes Bonoan.

Epson launches the new compact L-series integrated ink tank printers - Epson L-series Integrated Ink Tank Printer

Epson, a global leader in printing technologies and market leader for ink tank printers, has launched its new A4 duplex integrated ink tank printer, the new L-series printers that offer one of the lowest printing costs in the market.

Sporting a brand new sleek design, the new L-series integrated ink tank printers have been re-designed into a compact size with the ink tank integrated into the printer, offering the smallest footprint amongst all brands of ink tank printers.

Designed with the customers’ experience in mind, its easy-to-use spill-free ink bottles offer users ease and convenience when refilling the ink bottles. The ink bottles are designed to prevent re-filling errors with each ink bottle nozzle uniquely customized to fit its matching color tank.
The new integrated L-series printers significantly lower the total cost of ownership to businesses with its ultra-high page yields. Each complete set of 4 ink bottles increased its yield to 7,500 black and white pages and 6,000 color pages to help businesses lower their operating costs. The pigment-based black ink also provides laser-like quality, making documents water and smudge-resistant when printing in mono.

The new L-series ink tank printers come with auto-duplex print function which affords users up to 50% savings on paper cost, reducing running costs even further. Epson is currently the only brand offering ink tank printers with auto-duplex function in the market.

Since Epson first launched its breakthrough ink tank system printers, the company has continued to provide innovative modifications to further improve productivity for business and home users.

Epson’s long-term product development and manufacturing philosophy is aligned with the company’s motivation to innovate for the future to realize the company’s business goals, and at the same time ensure customer satisfaction and preserve the environment with its limited resources.

“Epson printers have also taken steps to drastically reduce environmental impact by lessening the amount of consumables used. Compared to laser printer’s toner cartridges which gives low black page yield and made from more plastic materials, customers can print 7,500 pages with the Epson L- series resource-friendly ink bottle,” explains Russer Cabrera, Product Manager, Inkjet Printers, Epson Philippines.

The new L-series printers come with PrecisionCore printheads for high performance, achieving high ISO print speeds of up to 15ipm for standard black and white printing and 33ppm for draft printing, for improved business efficiency. Delivering a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi, Epson’s PrecisionCore printheads are composed of Micro Thin Film Piezo print chips for precise multi-size droplet control capabilities, ensuring the greatest details and extremely smooth gradations in documents or photographs.

The integrated ink tank printers deliver exceptional quality black and white prints with the use of black pigment ink that produces water and smudge-resistant printouts. For photo printing, the printers offer outstanding lab-quality photos when printing on photo media. Large-sized photo printing is made possible as the printers support borderless printing of up to A4 size.

Additional features include a 30-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for unattended scanning and copying of multi-sheet documents.

The ink tank printers support printing on-the-go and comes equipped with Ethernet2, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity, enabling users to print wirelessly within a network, connect to mobile devices or print remotely from anywhere via Epson Connect, Epson’s suite of connectivity solutions.

As the brand with the widest range of ink tank printers worldwide, Epson continues to lead as the number one ink tank vendor, achieving the largest market share of ink tank printers among ink tank vendors across South East Asia. There are now over 20 million Epson ink tank printers sold worldwide since its launch in 2010.

“We have redesigned the experience of our L-series ink tank printers to bring greater convenience and ease-of-use to users, as well as added new features that support the business needs of our customers. The new integrated ink tank printers are designed with the customers’ experience in mind to offer one of the lowest printing costs in the market. We look forward to offering solutions that support businesses by helping them to manage their operational costs and improve business efficiency,” said Eduardo Bonoan, General Manager and Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines.

The new integrated ink tank printers consist of the L4150 and L4160 models, and the L6160, L6170 and L6190 models.

The introduction of the company’s newest ink-tank system printers and showcase of visual imaging products is another step forward in the company’s commitment to drive productivity and value for business customers. The company’s conscientious attention to detail in developing functional design has been a key factor in Epson’s success and thriving leadership in the Philippines and in the global market.
“As a technology company, Epson takes great pride in our attention to details and innovation. We aspire to be a company that takes care of every detail using the most innovative technology in the world to meet the demands of the market. And it is our focus on details that has led to our success today,” explains Toshimitsu Tanaka, Managing Director and President, Epson Philippines and Country Manager, Epson Singapore Pte. Ltd.
“Epson has a vertically integrated model driven by our core technologies that sees us creating products from the ground up – handling every aspect of our product development, manufacture, sale, right down to service and support. And it is this edge that differentiates us from our competitors,” adds Tanaka san.
Mr. Toshimitsu Tanaka also announced that all the products launched during the event were manufactured locally in Epson Precision (Philippines) Inc. or EPPI, Epson’s manufacturing facility in the Philippines.

Printing Fast Forward

The Epson brand is the pioneer in ink tank printers, and continues to lead the ink tank segment with the largest market share of ink tank printers, at 70% in SE Asia. Currently there are over 20 million Epson ink tank printers sold worldwide since its launch in 2010.

In the Philippines, Epson also holds a dominant 55% market share and continues to grow exponentially as the company, which already has the largest range of ink tank printers, continues to expands and customize for every market need.

“Since IDC started tracking the market in 1996, no vendor in the long history of this highly competitive industry was able to command a market share more than 50%.Despite other brands’ entry into the ink tank space last 2014 and 2015, Epson’s domination of this segment is apparent. IDC showed that in the 1st half of 2017, Epson sold more than 3 times the quantity other brands have sold, combined. At 77% market share in the ink tank space, it has become very obvious, ink tank is Epson, and Epson is ink tank,” elaborates Jester Cruz, Department Head for Product Management Division, Epson Philippines.

“We are witnessing a very clear shift in the printing market. While the ink tank segment grows, with everyone jumping on the bandwagon, the laser market segment has been declining. Epson is committed to the business printing segment by constantly developing and introducing a wide range of products suited to each business category,” divulges Eduardo Bonoan, General Manager and Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines.

Epson plans to disrupt the laser markets with different inkjet products to allow the print technology shift from lasers to Inkjets, with Epson strengthening its Ink Tank & Business Inkjet line-up in the small to medium business segment; and high-speed Inkjet MFPs to target the large to enterprise segment, competing mainly with the A3 laser copiers, which are predominant in this segment.

Epson and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Create Glow-in-the-Dark Pit Stop

Epson is looking forward to the iconic nightime Singapore Grand Prix by taking a fresh and exciting look at a Formula 1™ car and pit stop. The ambitious plan to create what is believed to be the world’s first glow-in-the-dark pit stop combined Epson’s market leading products with the proven excellence of the reigning Formula One™ World Constructors’ Champions, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, featuring three-time World Champion driver, Lewis Hamilton.

Epson began by transforming the Mercedes-AMG Petronas race car from its normal state into a glow-in-the-dark masterpiece. An Epson SureColor SC-S Series printer enabled the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport design team to transform the 2016 World Championship winning livery by printing luminous material that was wrapped around the car and glow-in-the-dark versions of the car’s iconic branding. The lights were then turned off and the crew completed the world’s first ever glow-in-the-dark pit stop. Complete with glowing overalls and equipment, the team conducted several rapid tyre changes.

The effect was enhanced by the Epson’s flagship EB-L25000U, the world’s first and brightest 3LCD laser projector with 25,000 lumens plus 4K Enhancement, which is designed for dynamic and high-impact production*1.

The concept was designed to encourage Formula 1 fans to look at pit stops in an entirely new light, while demonstrating the global technology leadership of both Epson and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport in a compelling manner.

The 2017 race calendar next sees the championship travel to Singapore, where Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport will be looking to consolidate their championship lead at this iconic ‘F1 night race’. With over 1600 lights illuminating the famous city circuit four times brighter than most football stadiums it is a spectacle welcomed by fans globally. To celebrate this night race, the glow-in-the-dark content will be released on Epson and Mercedes-AMG Petronas channels over the Singapore GP race weekend (15-17 September 2017).

The glow-in-the-dark pit stop is part of a series of innovative activations between Epson and Mercedes-AMG Petronas, which includes last year’s #LewisGetsInked campaign and the 2017 Lewis Hamilton F1 Ink Tank Challenge (https://www.epson.co.uk/lewisgetsinked).

A video of the glow-in-the-dark and other content will be released on Epson channels shortly.
Ian Cameron, general manager of brand and communications at Epson said: “Our partnership with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport has always focused on working together in the joint pursuit of innovation and performance in our respective industries. The glow-in-the-dark pit stop is both pioneering and exciting. It perfectly demonstrates how adaptable and practical our products are in the most unusual and striking of environments. We are delighted with the results.”
Victoria Vowles, Marketing Operations Director, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, said, “It is always a pleasure to work with Epson to create these innovative and forward-thinking concepts. Epson’s use of advanced technology to deliver performance is perfectly aligned to what we strive to achieve in Formula 1. Pit stops are a well established feature of the Formula 1 experience, so being able to work with Epson and their pioneering products to bring a fresh perspective to this process has been highly exciting.”

The newest John Herrera creations will be globally presented during Fashion Scout in September 2017, the international showcase for fashion pioneers and UK's largest independent showcase for emerging and established design talent during the 2017 London Fashion Week.

Fresh off his win as Britain’s Top Designer 2017 (BTD) at the 5th season of fashion’s finest event for emerging talent in British fashion for his Aguila collection, his first collaboration with Epson, Herrera delves back into history and Philippine pride in creating these new digitally-printed masterpieces.

Special guests and close friends of John Herrera, as well as invitees from the Philippine lifestyle media were able to show their support and send their well wishes as he showcases his newest collection, Armada.

“The inspiration for the Armada collection came from the very first map in history that included the Philippine islands. This map by Diogo Ribeiro shows the world circa 1529. With the help of Epson’s digital textile printing technology, I was able to render parts of this medieval map and present designs on opaque and translucent fabrics. The combination of sheer and stiff materials with soft fabrics create new silhouettes will remind us of sailing to new worlds,” explains John Herrera.

In a nod to the Spanish colonial heritage, Herrera also enhanced the collection by integrating in the design elements of costume and fashion from the era of King Phillip of Spain, the monarch whom the country was named after. Hues of sepia and brown were combined in the digitally printed fabrics to infuse the feel and look of this historic time.

“This is the second time that John Herrera has tapped Epson’s digital textile printing technologies to create a totally different concept in fashion and design, and we are very happy to collaborate with him once again.  As the brand ambassador of Epson Philippines’ Professional Printers Group, he has truly given us the world’s attention with his ingenious marriage of art and technology. This latest collection called “Armada” is John’s avant-garde take on our history and roots; a creation that we are confident will put the Philippines on the map once again,” said Ed Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Marketing Head, Epson Philippines.

Epson’s digital textile printing technology enables designers to achieve their artistic vision with advanced technology that understands the intricacies of fabric and design. Its print nozzles deliver ultra-precise control of ink droplets for superior image sharpness across a wide range of ink and media, producing outstandingly vivid and unique prints.

The complete John Herrera Spring/Summer Collection will be globally showcased in London’s Fashion Scout in September 2017.

The new Epson printers were revealed during the program via a lights and movement show, treating the audience to a visual experience. Side-by-side panels in the venue showcased the printing superiority of the new products. The launch featured two sessions with a lunch unveiling for media and a primer for corporate partners, dealers, distributors in the evening.

“The development of this new category of printers was initiated after a thorough study of the needs and concerns of the medium to large enterprise segment. Major factors that enterprises always consider are speed, quality and running cost. In addition to that, Epson has looked into how to significantly reduce power consumption, use fewer parts for less maintenance and enhance document security. That is why Epson made precise innovations to ensure that each detail of the product really makes a difference in addressing these concerns,” explains Mr. Ed Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Marketing Head, Epson Philippines.

The two Epson Business Inkjet Printer models, WF-C20590 and WF-C17590 feature Epson’s most advanced inkjet technology, the proprietary PrecisionCore Linehead that makes high speed printing possible, while ensuring premium quality with its dot precision, sharp text & fine lines, as well as media flexibility. Another product unveiled at the event, the enhanced RIPS WorkForce Pro WF-C869R, is also made with Epson’s PrecisionCore technology while consistently producing quality prints with low running costs, allowing up to 86,000 pages in black or 84,000 pages in color prints.

The introduction of these Epson Inkjet Multi-Function Printers is projected to contribute an increase in Epson Philippines’s market share which is currently at 51%. It is also another step in Epson’s continuing innovation to improve the customer experience and expand end-user benefits.
“Epson’s long-term goal is to introduce a brand new product category that can compete with the copier and high volume business printers. Epson’s Micro Piezo inkjet technology has proven its vast superiority over laser printing, as what we have already seen in the earlier L-series printers especially suited for SME’s. This time around, we have our most advanced PrecisionCore technology to create a much better alternative to conventional business printing. This development is aligned with Epson’s vision to create a new connected age of people, things and information with efficient, compact and precision technologies,” added Mr. Ed Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Marketing Head, Epson Philippines.
The WorkForce Pro WF-C869R is now available in all authorized Epson corporate resellers nationwide with a suggested retail price (SRP) of PHP152, 500.00 while the prices for the WorkForce Enterprise series, the WF-C20590 and WF-C17590 are still to be announced. The WorkForce Enterprise series will also be sold through authorized Epson corporate resellers nationwide within this year.

Epson holds number one position for large format signage printer amongst ASEAN countries in Q3 of 2016 to Q1 of 2017

Epson’s flagship digital textile printer is number one large format printer for dye-sublimation inks in Vietnam

Epson, a leader in professional printing, has achieved the number one position in the graphics market for large format signage printers amongst ASEAN countries in the 3rd quarter period of 2016 to 1st quarter period of 2017. The most recent findings from IDC reveal that Epson has taken the top spot in this segment with a market share of 19.9%. The achievement demonstrates the company’s market leadership in the region and its pioneering innovation in large format graphics printing.

Epson professional printers combine high volume and high speed production printing with quality print output along with affordability, which has helped its growth in the region. The company has continued to lead in the commercial and industrial printer markets for photo graphics, signage, textile and label printing amongst printing providers, retail stores and the like, expanding in the Southeast Asia region.

At the core of Epson’s professional printers is its PrecisionCore printhead technology consisting of the Thin-Film Piezo print chip built using precision MEMS manufacturing technology for high performance printing. Using no heat, the PrecisionCore print chips enable the development of superior Epson ink formulations that can print across a variety of media ranging from posters and signage banners and other creative installations. Multi-size dot control delivers precision printing for high-volume and high-speed printing applications.

Alongside this achievement, Epson has continued to expand its digital textile printing business in the region, with its flagship digital textile printer model, the SureColor SC-F9270 emerging as the number one large format printer in the graphics market in Vietnam for dye-sublimation inks in 2016.

There continues to be growing demand for large format printing globally. According to IDC, large format printer (LFP) shipments and revenue grew by more than 4% year over year in 2016. And in the digital textile printing industry, Smithers Pira forecasts 17.5% annual growth for digital textile print, with a revenue growth forecast at an annual average of 12.3% for 2016 to 2021.

“The signage, textiles and label industries are high growth markets, and we aim to continue to drive growth in the region. Especially in the textiles industry, we aim to accelerate the industry shift to digital to support the demand for short-run print jobs. We will continue to leverage our strengths in our core technologies to introduce new innovations that will help our customers to strengthen their business and lower their overall total cost of production,” said Shuji Hamaguchi, Regional General Manager (SE Asia), Professional Printing Division, Epson Singapore.
